Shine Like Stars (Philippians 2)

Song Notes

“Shine like stars,” that’s the line that first spoke to me in this Bible passage. Something about light has always appealed to me, and when reading those lines, I felt they needed to be accompanied by an equally bright motif. It took me a while, but eventually, I came up with a 3-note motif that seemed to fit…and then came the challenge of coming up with a melody for the rest of the verse 🙂 In the end, this what I came up with.

Bible Verse

(Philippians 2:14-16)

14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16 as you hold out the word of life–in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.

Lyrics

Do everything without complaining or arguing,
So that you may become blameless and pure without fault in a crooked and depraved generation
Do everything without complaining or arguing,
So that you may become children of God without fault in a crooked generation, in which you

Shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life–
Like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life
